12th May 2018 saw the gang get back together again to set up the station to work in support of SOS Radio Week 2018. HF conditions were difficult before lunch but VHF was lively

John, Phill, Debs, Roy, Trevor, Steph and Big Ian are pulled together to make an enjoyable event with social interactions as well as playing radio.

Debs & Phill pulled a husband and wife double bill. running HF & VHF. Roy M6XDV, also known as the Pileup king, cracked in to try and get as many contacts as possible.

Some of our other regulars were missing due to this weekend also playing host to the Ten Tors event.

SOS Radio Week 2016

Riviera ARC will be starting their special events for 2016 with SOS Radio Week in January.
The event is based around highlighting the work done by the maritime emergency services and the Lifeboat service.

Watch this space for more news as the event begins.

Talk on Marine VHF

At the last club night, John M6GSW kindly gave a presentation on the Marine VHF bands and how they relate to the work of the Maritime & Coastguard Agency. He also explained how they dovetail with other emergency services such as Search & Rescue and the RNLI.
Thanks John for a totally innovative talk. We hope later in the year to expand on this by asking Ian to talk about the way that the Devon & Cornwall 4×4 Rescue Group work and how they mesh with the Dartmoor Rescue Group and the other blue-light services..
